SEXYBLACK INTRO -- Eryn Allen Kane

I've had my eye on Ms. Eryn Allen Kane for about a year now.  She has a beautiful voice, she's got the look and she can write the heck out of a song.  BET just bought this song and used it in their hit show "Being Mary Jane".  I haven't said this since Tori Kelly, but Eryn.... got next.  Check out "Piano Song".

SEXYBLACK INTRO: Blake Carrington -- Ahh Yeah

So the mandate here is to push quality product.  I've had my eye on this kid, Blake Carrington for awhile.  Blake has mad drive and hustle, and always has positive words for me when I see him in the T-Dot.  Here is his new video for his dope single "Ahh Yeah".  This video has some footage from what can be some slackness that goes on at the Toronto Caribana Parade, so if you don't like Bubblin', overt your eyes, but just listen to the quality lyrics and production on this track from local youngin', Blake Carrington:

SEXYBLACK INTRO: August Rigo & Lenny De La Pena

I've had my ear on this cat out of Toronto for a good part of a year.  He has a great sound.  He is out of the T-Dot.  Recently, I've reconnected with my boy, Lenny De La Pena.  Now back in the day, I knew him as one of the sickest choreographers in Toronto.  All achieved through hard work and dedication.  Lenny has transcended once again to become one of the newest, freshest video directors on the scene.  Lenny is a visionary.  He's done a few of August Rigo's videos.  This one features Ricky Tillo (Lady Gaga's guitarist).  It's called "Call My Name" and it is dope as f$ck.  Check it out below:

Look out for hot ish from both of these cats in 2014.

SEXYBLACK INTRO: Jennah Bell

I peeped this twinkling star while catching BET Awards highlights.  It only took one verse and part of a chorus for me to realize that something REAL was happening.  Click play and hear what I mean on "Hammer".  Also check out her other joint, "No Matter What (A Mother's Song)".  Jennah got next, remember who told you.

Here's some info:
At the young age of 23, Jennah Bell is already a titan of sound. She wields her power with a rare benevolence and just a touch of irreverence. Raised in Oakland, California, and sharpening her chops at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, skilled eclecticism is the hallmark of Jennah’s creed. Perhaps that’s why her music is ferocious, in a quirky, humble way. Her debut EP, Early Bird, deftly alternates influences derived from Bluegrass, Dub, Rock, Funk, and even a bit of Hip-Hop. Jennah’s a whiz with her acoustic guitar, and even unplugged, has the capacity to move audiences to tears.

SEXYBLACK INTRO: Russian Street Artist Lora Zombie

A few years ago, while taking a trip to LA to visit my boys, Nasri & Quddus, while visiting Quddus, I was introduced to the street art of Banksy.  I'm not sure if you've heard of him, but his street art is world renowned.  Last year a movie was released about the elusive Banksy and the eccentric film maker that was able to finally get him on film.  The movie is called "Exit Through The Gift Shop" and it is fascinating on so many levels.  Anyway, since then, I've become more and more interested in what's being called commercial street art.  I have an Alex Cherry on my wall in my new apartment, and I'd like to get another one.  To see what I'm talking about, just go to www.eyesonwalls.com and look around.
On that website, I found a new artist from Russia who is a young lady with a unique style and a great eye.  She is actually having her first show outside of Russia here in Toronto at the Gladstone on October 21, 2011.  Just so you know what a talent she is, I've included a cool video below that shows how she gets it done.  After the video, I've included some of her better works.  My favorite is the Amy.

SEXYBLACK'S RANDOM ACTS PLAYLIST BREAKDOWN -- Gentleman Edition (for the ladies...)

This one is especially for the ladies... The gentlemen above have provided some of the best songs EVER.  And this is a collection of some of my favorites, along with some songs that sing to the undeniable force that is Woman.  Enjoy the new RANDOM ACTS, and then go commit some of your own...

  • Say Something by Chris Brown -- Apparently Chris has some things to get off his chest.  This is his version off his Valentine's Day Mixtape gift for the ladies.
  • Fall Again by Glenn Lewis -- This is definitely in my top 10 (maybe 5) of all time favorite love songs.  Everytime I hear this song, I get lost in the lyrics.  "I wanna spend time til it ends, I wanna fall with you again."  Not too shabby for a Canadian.  If you've ever seen Jennifer Lopez's Maid In Manhattan, then you've seen Glenn sing this in his one and only appearance in a major motion picture.  There is a version out there with vocals by none other than Michael Jackson, as this song is rumoured to be a song that was supposed to be on Invincible but got cut.  WTF?  Guess what, Glenn's version is better.
  • There For Me by R.L. -- Here he comes again, but this time, with the best track (I think) he's ever done.  This appeared on his one and only solo album about 5 or 6 years ago.  It will always be a favorite.  Instant Classic.
  • Secret Garden by Usher feat. Robin Thicke -- This is a B-side from Raymond v. Raymond only released in Europe.  Not sure why, that album could've used another slow jam instead of OMG.  This is a classic remake of THE Quincy Jones joint that features Al B. Sure, Barry White, El Debarge & James Ingram.  In Usher's extended version of this song, featuring his friend Robin Thicke, if you listen closely near the end, Usher and Robin adlib over the original vocals by the four gentlemen.  One thing I know, ALL women love this song.
  • Let Me Be The One by Intro -- This trio stormed the scene shortly after Jodeci did.  They had a HUGE underground following due to their amazing new sound featured on their self-titled debut.  They had one more album after that and then they lost their founding member, Kenny Greene.  It's too bad, they had the vocals and the potential to bring us some serious classics.
  • She Will Be Loved (Live) by Maroon 5 -- Maroon 5 stormed the scene a few years ago with their "Songs About Jane" album.  Apparently, the whole song was written about Adam Levine's relationship and break-up with his previous girlfriend.  Not only was the album extremely soulful but lyrically deep.
  • Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder -- Sir Duke, Stevie Wonder, Classic, That.  Is.  All.
  • Gotham City by R. Kelly -- This song was the featured single off of one of the Batman movies.  Probably, one of the bad ones, as I remember that this was the only good thing about that movie.  R. Kelly amazes us again by writing a touching ballad from Batman's point of view about the city that he lived to protect.  I love this song.
  • You And I by Jodeci -- Okay, Jodeci came and dropped 3 amazing albums and then disappeared, breaking all of our hearts.  This song is one of the unreleased slow jams from the first album Forever My Lady.  This should've been a single.  Listen to K-Ci and Jojo vocally master this track and remember that they were only 19 and this was their first time in the studio.  Amazing.
  • Anything by Jaheim -- This song came at a time when Jaheim was still an amazing wonder to us with his silky smooth vocals.  He had some great production from Kaygee from Naughty by Nature and by Koffee Brown, and thus came this declaration of love.  Enjoy.
Ladies, don't say SEXYBLACK never does anything for you.  Feel free to leave me a comment sharing some of your personal memories or feelings about these tracks, old and new, and maybe get a request in there. If it's hot, and I got it, it may appear.

SEXYBLACK INTRO: From the man who brought you Rihanna...

RocNation presents... Alexis Jordan

Looks like Jay-Z may have done it again.  This song is like sugar.  She's got the presence and the vocals, and an AMAZING video to introduce her to the world.  I am a new fan.

Let it never be said that America's Got Talent didn't do anything for the world.
